Confidence from the past; Hope for the Future.
This was the phrase stuck in my mind for this year as I was praying for the ministry of Truelight Church. If we see Psalm 77, the writer was very depressed, felt rejected by God and was without hope. Suddenly something happens in the middle of the Psalm and the tone completely changes; He is absolutely confident and praises God in the second part. What happened in the middle is: he began to do an exercise; he made a decision to remember the deeds of the Lord from long ago. So I started to do the same that day; I took a sheet of paper and began to write down all the good things God has done in my life from Childhood. It started to give me hope for the future; Because God has done it in the past He can do it again. That is the reason we pray for the sick as we have seen God heal people before and he can do it again. Paul writes in the New Testament: He who had began a good work in you; will fulfil it until the day of Jesus Christ. Friends we are living the Now, from the past, to the future. Base your confidence on Gods deeds from the Past and live with Hope for the future. God bless You.
Reciprocity:
This is a very fundamental principle we all follow in our day to day lives. There are 2 types of reciprocity, one is when we give something to someone we expect something back from them, and the second type is where we give somebody something and we do not expect anything back. Even in the second type we still expect that they do something for someone else or show what they have done with what is given. We send our Kids to school, we pay their fee and we expect them to study well. So we do not expect the same thing we gave them, but something very reasonable. If there is only giving and no receiving eventually the relationship dies. This is true with employee- employer relationships or any other relationships we can think of. Bible says: God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son. What we have with God is a relationship, so for it to work we need to have reciprocity. Paul says "God first loved Us" and even before we did anything for God, even when we are still sinners Christ died for us, So Jesus has done it all for us, so now only the response part is left. Bible suggests our response is Faith or a Trust. Think about it, and respond.
